Marco Tamayothe Cuban guitarist with Austrian citizenship, acclaimed as “Il Re della Chitarra” by the Italian newspaper La Stampa, is a winner of major international competitions. He also performed with well-known orchestras and conductors around the globe and, nowadays, he is a leading figure on the classical guitar world. Marco Tamayo is Professor at the Mozarteum University of Arts in Salzburg and at the Landeskonservatorium in Klagenfurt. He is also Guest Professor at the Music Academy in Gdansk, Poland, and he was a Professor at the Sydney University in Australia. His book called “Essential Principles for the Performance on the Classical Guitar” has changed the approach on this instrument and its teaching. Many of his students enjoy an international career. Besides, Marco Tamayo is artistic director of the Michele Pittaluga International Guitar competition in Alessandria, Italy. He is also an Honor Citizen of the city of Solero and Alessandria, both in Italy. Tamayo plays on a Simon Marty guitar. He is a Savarez artist, and he is used to play on Alliance Blue-Cantiga strings. Marco Tamayo is Chairman of the Marco Tamayo Edition, publishing house created in 2014, that has renewed the classical guitar editions up to our days. The classical guitar duo Tamayo-Montesinos was born on the base of music and love. Both well-known soloists enjoy performing together and bringing the idea on stage, as Fryderyk Chopin said: “The guitar is the most beautiful instrument. Perhaps more beautiful than a guitar: two guitars!”. Original works and transcriptions, full of virtuosity, fun and Bel canto will be listened live!
