Zoran Dukić was born in Zagreb in 1969. He began his guitar studies at the age of six. After graduating from the Zagreb Academy of Music under professor Darko Petrinjak, he furthered his studies at the Musikhochschule in Cologne with Hubert Käppel. He took part in master classes given by guitar virtuosos such as Manuel Barrueco, David Russell and Leo Brouwer.
Dukić won many prizes in international music competitions, including: the First Prize at the 6th International Competition in Mettmann (Germany) and the First Prize at the International Competition “Andrés Segovia” in Palma de Mallorca (Spain), in 1991; the First Prize and Special prize of the Jury for the Best Interpretation of Spanish music at the 8th International Madrid Competition, in 1992; the First Prize and Audience Prize at the 20th International Competition in Viña Del Mar (Chile) and the First Prize and Audience Prize at the International Guitar Competition “Francisco Tarrega” in Benicassim (Spain), in 1994.
Zoran Dukić performs on his own or with orchestras throughout Europe and U.S.A., Canada, Latin America and Asia. He also plays in chamber music ensembles and is a member of the “Cologne Trio” with which he recorded his first CD.
He teaches at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague and at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona.
